The badge is now simpler and flatter without the gloss. The Firefox emblem will be redrawn in 2013 and simplified. Although the overall style and composition of the globe have not changed, the tail of a fox was redrawn so it looked more like a flame. This made the emblem more three-dimensional and glossy. In 2009, the globe received lighter gradients. The use of contrast tones of orange and blue made the bridge brighter and clearer. In 2005, the colors and contours of the globe as well as the fox were improved. The long, fluffy tail of the fox was drawn in sharp shapes to resemble a flame. The blue globe was made in gradient shades and featured a stylized orange Fox, curving along its bottom, snuggling the globe. The new logo was created after the browser was renamed to Firefox in 2004.

The bird’s head was turned to the left, and it looked bright and friendly. It was curved up with delicate red petals over it, resembling an flame. It depicted a stylized, red bird with its wings spread out to the sides. The original logo was created by Phoenix. The current Firefox name was adopted in 2004. Mozilla Firebird was the original name for the browser, but it was changed to Phoenix in 2003. This mythological creature was resurrected from the ashes and transformed into the iconic orange Fox. It started with an image of a Phoenix bird in 2002. It does not store any personal data. The iconic browser’s visual identity has been built around flame and its power. Mozilla is looking for a feedback from users on the current design approach, users should not submit their own design ideas rather they should only look into the design ideas as they stand, as Mozilla said, these design items are still a work of fiction, they will undergo several rounds of refinement and icons are not final yet. Mozilla is using the same process of redesigning when it redesigned its logo two years ago.

This is not the first time Mozilla is considering design change, the company attempted the design change in December last year, however, it is the second change which is going underway after a short span of time, Mozilla previously made brighter, bolder and simplified icon for Firefox Quantum the company said. The company said, “Each individual icon will be refined further, it could be changed entirely from now and the time of launch but our focus at this point is on the system. There are also two approaches to the icons for new apps & services, the company wants its users to look into the design approaches and leave the feedback for further refinement. Mozilla has uploaded two design approaches, with master brand icons, system icons that fall under the two different master brand icons along with general purpose browser icons and singularly focused browser icons. Mozilla has uploaded possible designs on their blog and wants users to comment for feedback, according to Mozilla designers, “As an icon, the fast fox with a flaming tail doesn’t offer enough design tools to represent the entire product family.” Mozilla is not just redesigning one main logo of Firefox but the company is focusing on a whole lot of icons to fit in Firefox web and mobile browser experience. Mozilla is mulling to redesign its Firefox logo not alone with help of its users and their input.
